COMPOSITION:
Methylene blue 1 g/100 ml; Excipient (distilled water) up to 100 ml
PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:
METHYLENE BLUE 1% has antiseptic and analgesic action on various damaged tissues (wounds, burns, sores, bedsores, frostbites, glossitis etc), favoring their healing. If administered via the drinking water, it is rapidly absorbed from the digestive tube, activating the oxidation - reducing processes in the organism, being particularly useful in hypoxias, methemoglobinemia. The mechanism of action is to reduce the hem group from methemoglobin to hemoglobin. It is eliminated by urine which it turns green-blue, acting as antiseptic of the excretory system.
TARGET SPECIES:
• Pet animals (dogs, cats, Guineea pigs, hamsters);
• Pet fowls (peacocks, ornamental pheasants, racing and ornamental pigeons, canaries, parakeets);
• Aquarium fish
INDICATIONS:
Disinfection of the drinking water; as urinary antiseptic; topical applications on wounds (burns, gall, lying, frostbite, glossitis) of the skin and the mucosa; as antidot in sulphamides poisoning; in hypoxia and methaemoglobinemia.
If associated with glucose, it favors the glucose oxidation, so the product is recommended as energiser for the hypodinamic animals.
The product is also used in treatment of gingivitis, glossitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis.

An unpleasant taste may appear when administered orally in gingivitis, pharyngitis and laryngitis in dogs and cats,
METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION:
In fowls
• Preventively – for disinfection of the drinking water: 5-7 ml solution of ALBASTRU DE METILEN 1 % to 1 liter of drinking water, for 7-14 days.
• Curatively: - for disinfection of the drinking water in case of infectious diseases: 15 ml ALBASTRU DE METILEN 1 % solution to 1 liter of water for 2-3 days.
In dogs and cats - the product is administered orally in gingivitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis in dose of 1 – 2 ml solution (10 – 20 mg active substance), daily. In wounds, burns, gall, lying, frostbite, glossitis, Albastru de metilen 1% solution is applied locally.
In fish – for disinfection of the aquarium water: 0.3 ml to 1 liter of water as a sole administration (for fungi) and for 3 – 5 days (for protozoa). In case of cyanides and nitrites poisoning of the fish, the product is administered for 3 – 5 days.
