Pharmaceutical form:
Solution for intravenous infusion.

Pharmacodynamic properties:
This is a treatment-specific combination of metamizole and caffeine with organotropic co-factors in a glucose solution for treatment of febrile infectious and invasive diseases in stock animals associated with a severely impaired general well-being and intoxication symptoms and the metabolic disorders which thereby arise.

The analgesic, antipyretic, energising, detoxifying, liver-protecting, tonicising and cardiovascular-stimulating and –stabilising action is of decisive, often life-saving importance in the rehabilitation of seriously sick animals.

Metamizole is used for its central and peripheral analgesic, antipyretic, antiphlogistic and spasmolytic action, which improves the subjective well-being of the animals.
Caffeine has a stimulating effect on the CNS; respiration and motor activity are stimulated. It also has an anticonvulsive and angiospasmolytic action. It has a mild digitalis-like effect on the heart and causes mild dilation of the coronary arteries, which are manifested on the damaged heart in a delay in contraction and an increase in the minute volume. The increased circulation of the glomeruli and the mobilisation of the larger quantities of fluid deposited in the tissues manifests itself in an increase in diuresis and contributes towards the breakdown of oedemas. 

Calcium is contained in the form of the better tolerated and readily absorbable gluconate.
It is involved in many reactions of the organism, such as coagulation of blood, regulation of stimulatability of the central and peripheral nervous system, stimulatability and contraction of muscles, detumescence, sealing of vessels, the inflammation process and inhibition of allergic reactions. It is the "second messenger" of some hormones and activator of some enzymes. As a result of its broad organotropic action, calcium also has a calming effect on the CNS and has a prompt spasmolytic effect on various forms of tetanus.

Magnesium activates, amongst other things, enzyme functions of phosphatases, which play an important role in metabolism and muscle contractions. The preparation contains magnesium ions in the form of the gluconate.

Phosphorus intensifies metabolism by assimilatory support of the carbohydrate balance, resulting in an increased supply of energy.

Methionine is an essential amino acid and an important protein building block in the animal organism. It contains sulphur in the molecule and therefore becomes the sulphur donor for biosynthesis for the important sulphur-containing amino acid cysteine and for cystine.
As a lipotropic factor it is involved in phosphatide synthesis and promotes transportation of fatty acids from the liver.

Glucose is the most widespread monosaccharide in the animal body and is the only cleavage product of the important polysaccharides starch, glycogen and cellulose and of the disaccharide maltose. The glycogen stored in the liver and muscles is built up from glucose. Glucose is one of the most important suppliers of energy for cardiac muscles and for the central nervous system.

Pharmacokinetic properties:
The supplied active ingredients are bound differently well to plasma proteins and converted according to their metabolic kinetic (if requested 99% of Glucose are converted, otherwise up to 40% are excreted renally).
Effect of Metamizol sets in 10-15 minutes after i.v. injection. Caffeine, which belongs to the methylxanthines, in horses has a t½ of 18-22 hours (max. plasma concentration 5 minutes after i.v. application) and is partially demethylised. Calcium (up to 40% bound) and Magnesium (up to 35% bound) are distributed in the extracellular space. The contained Methionine is metabolised in the liver to cysteine. 
The metabolites of the active ingredients are mainly excreted via the urine, only Magnesium is eliminated mainly via the faeces.

Target species:
Horses, cattle, calves, pigs.

Indications:
Infusion treatment for fever, pain, states of weakness and exhaustion, infections and intoxications such as coli-mastitis, acute and severe septicaemia, puerperal septicaemia, diarrhoea, pneumonias, acetonaemia, transport diseases, milk fever and paresis, haemoglobinuria.
The use of Novacoc forte in addition to antiinfectious base treatment often proves life-saving.

Administration and dosage:
Infuse slowly at body temperature.

medium-sized and heavy horses 150 - 250 ml

The administration can be repeated on the following days, depending on the course of the disease. 
Base treatment for infectious diseases: antibiotics, trimethoprim/sulphonamide preparations.

Withdrawal periods:
Meat and offal: Pig: 3 days
Cattle: 6 days
Horse: 5 days
Milk: 2 ½ days (5 milkings)
