COMPOSITION
1 ml Romprogestin 1 % contains
Active substance: Progesterone 1.0 g/100 ml;
Excipient (sunflower oil) up to 100 ml
PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION
Progesterone is essential for pregnancy, but in high doses inhibits the ovulation, having antagonistic action against estrogens and reducing the hyperfoliculline metrorrhagies. Long lasting administration of high doses may cause multiple fibromatosis. Low doses have synergistic action with folicullin, acting mainly on the membrane receptors of follicular cell previously prepared by estrogens.
It stimulates the protein anabolism, increases blood sugar and hepatic glycogen, reduces lipidemia and has anti fibromatosis action; inhibits the uterine motility, relaxes the digestive smooth muscles, reduces excitability of the central nervous system.

INDICATIONS
Synchronization of estrus in cows, mares, sheep and goats
In cows and mares – to prevent habitual abortion and in case of imminent abortion
In sheep – to induce out of season heats, to stimulate and synchronize the heats, which usually go anovulatory.
In bitches and cats – for the treatment of ovarian cysts induced nymphomania as well as for the treatment of miliary eczema.
In bitches – for the treatment of post estral metrorrhagia in association with vitamin K
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Do not use in case of known hypersensitivity of the animal to the active or to any ingredient of the product;
Do not use in incomplete abortion and hepatic distress
ADVERSE REACTIONS
Skin rashes and allergic reactions, hydro-saline retention accompanied by edema, somnolence and painful reactions at the inoculation site may occur. A very small percent of bitches can exhibit cystic hyperplasia.
METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
Intramuscular or subcutaneous injection, at various doses, depending on the species and condition:
- Mares and cows: 30 mg active substance (a.s.), e. 3 ml Romprogestin / animal in case of abortion or imminent abortion, in the 4th and 7th day after mating. To avoid abortion in case of traumatizing surgery, the product can be applied for 3 consecutive days immediately after the surgery at a dose of 10 ml/day.
- Sheep and goats: for inducing out of season heats and synchronization of estrum, inject 10 mg a.s. (e. 1 ml Romprogestin) / animal for 14 consecutive days, and in the 15th day inoculate subcutaneously 500 I.U. Pregnant Mare’s Serum Gonadotropin (PMSG) / animal.
- Bitches: in case of embryo mortality and habitual abortion, inject intramuscularly or subcutaneously 2-10 mg a.s. (e. 0.2–1 ml Romprogestin) / animal in the 4th and 7th day after mating. For the treatment of hormone driven metrorrhagia, inject a dose of 0.5–1 ml product, twice at 48 hours interval.
- Bitches and cats: 50 mg a.s. (5 ml Romprogestin 1%) / animal inoculated subcutaneously in the flank/inner tight for the treatment of military eczema consecutive to gelding.
WARNINGS
Comply with the recommended doses
Administer cautiously in cardiovascular conditions and epilepsy and in mild to moderate hepatic dysfunction. The treatment shall be immediately ceased in case of exophtalmia, palpebral edema, and partial or total loss of eyesight. Not to be administered in impuberal females.
The product can be used during pregnancy or lactation, only upon veterinarian advice. In case of acute intoxication, symptomatic therapy should be initiated as well as general measures for animal support. For any other serious reactions or other side effects not mentioned in this leaflet, please inform your veterinarian.
