What is Vetmedin?
Vetmedin is used as a first line therapy in the management of certain types of congestive heart failure in dogs. The active ingredient pimobendan belongs to a class of medication called inodilators. The medication can reduce the work rate the heart needs to pump blood by opening up the blood vessels that take blood away from the heart. Decreasing the workload needed by the heart to pump blood will help improve the quality of life and lifespan of pets.

How is Vetmedin used?
Vetmedin is usually given to the pet twice per day or as directed by a veterinarian. The capsules can be given with or without food but should be given with some water. Contact a veterinarian for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the pets weight, condition and their response to the therapy. The 2.5mg capsules are designed to be given to dogs that weight between 10kg and 20kg.
